Summer Camp Information 2023 (REVISED)

In the post below, you will find all the specific camp information for our Summer 2023 skating camps. I am putting the General Information in this top paragraph because I don't want these points to get missed.

First, I won't take any registrations before 6:00pm on Monday, May 1st. 2023. Also, please make sure that you contact me and ensure that you have a spot BEFORE sending any money. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and all email, texts and messenger messages on Facebook, Instagram and the Wix app will be used to determine who gets their pick of camps and who may have to look at another day or time.

Second, I have tried to offer something for everyone's age but Level categories are always a bit of a guideline and not written in stone, however over the summer I am trying to keep the disparity between skaters to a minimum. You know your child, so please send me a message and ask if you don't know which camp to choose.

Lastly, all camp registrants must provide a 35% deposit (listed in the camp description)within 48 hours of spot confirmation, with the remainder of camp fees due at least 48 hours before the camp start date. We accept eTransfer to focusedskating@gmail.com, Credit and Debit Card in person, Cash and cheque made out to Ben Russenholt.

CAMP IP-A

THIS CAMP IS NOW FULL REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

Location: Invista Centre, Desjardins Pad

Time: 5:30 - 6:20pm

Dates: Thursdays, June 8, 15, 22, and 29. (4 Sessions)

Age Group: IP - U9

Level: Open, Non gender specific.

Session Cap: 16 skaters

Cost: $160.00

Deposit: $56.00

This is one of two camps for the younger crowd. If they have played at least a season of IP or higher and just need those last few skills to set them on their way, this is the camp. Focus on this camp will be pure fundamentals. Stance, balance, posture and edges will be our main priority so that by session 4 we can work some trickier skills like stopping, turning and backwards skating. Crossovers are also on the menu, just further into the camp when we have mastered outside edges.

Camp IP-B

Dates: Tuesdays, July 4, 11, 18, and 25 (4 Sessions)

Age Group: IP - U9

Level: Open, Non gender specific.

Session Cap: 16 skaters

At this age and playing level the camp will focus on cleaning up the basics and teaching new skills and techniques. The fundementals of stance, posture and balance will be covered but mainly in the warm-up drills. Edges always play a huge part in my camps and this one will be no different, as we will need them to move on to more complex skills like crossovers, turns, pivots and transitions. Of course, forward striding, starts, stops and acceleration will covered.

U10 - U13 House Camp#2

Dates: Wednesday Evenings, July 26, August 2, 16, 23, 30 (5 Sessions)

(This camp unfortunately misses a session in the second week due to holidays)

Age Group: U10 - U13

Level: House League to Select, Non gender specific.

Session Cap: 16 skaters

Cost: $200.00

Deposit: $70.00

At this age and playing level the camp will focus on cleaning up the basics and teaching new skills and techniques. The fundementals of stance, posture and balance will be covered but mainly in the warm-up drills. Edges, posture, and balance will all be covered in warm-ups so that we can get to the finer points of forward stride, crossovers, acceleration and power. Turns will play a huge part in this camp as will back backwards starts and skating. In this camp, I hope to be able to teach new skills and turns to better prepare participants for todays game like Slide turns and others.

U13+ OPEN Camp#1

Location: Invista Centre, Desjardins Pad

Time: 8:30 - 9:20pm

Dates: Wednesday Evenings, June 14, 21, 28, July 5, 12 and 19 (6 Sessions)

Age Group: U13 and up

Level: OPEN Non gender specific.

Session Cap: 16 skaters

Cost: $240.00

This camp level will work on all the skills that the other group House league groups do but my expectation level and the speed of execution will be even higher. Edges, posture, and balance will all be covered in warm-ups so that we can get to the finer points of forward stride, crossovers, acceleration and power. Turns will play a huge part in this camp as will back backwards starts and skating. In this camp, I hope to be able to teach new skills and turns to better prepare participants for todays game like Slide turns and Rolling Stops and others.

U14+ A-AAA Camp#1

This camp level will challenge skaters to push their skills to new heights. Edges, posture, and balance will all be covered in warm-ups so that we can get to the finer points of forward stride, crossovers, acceleration and power. Turns will play a huge part in this camp as will back backwards starts and skating. In this camp, I hope to be able to teach new skills and turns to better prepare participants for todays game like Slide turns, Stop turns, Punch turns and Early turns will all be broken down and thought in component pieces so when we put them all back together, they have flow and power. We will also spend time on linear crossover, fast feet and lateral mobility.

U10 - U14 A-AAA Camp#2

Location: Invista Centre, Desjardins Pad

Time: 6:00 - 7:00am

Dates: Monday - Wednesdays July 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, and 26 (8 Sessions)

Age Group: U14 and up

Level: A, AA, AAA, Non gender specific.

Session Cap: 16 skaters

Cost: $320.00
